In the process of architectural design, it is very important to consider the relationship between the site and the relationship between "inside" and "outside". But do we really understand the environment and nature? How to listen to plants, observe the natural boundaries of each plant, whether you are in nature, have observed and thought about it.

The book includes an abundance of photos, sketches, and drawings illustrating in detail Sambuichi's unique design approach and the process of bringing the concept to fruition, in a structure that conveys the fresh airiness of the site. Works include Miyajima Misen Observatory, Rokko-Shidare Observatory, “Inujima Seirensho Art Museum”, “Naoshima Hall”, “Matabe”, and “Hiroshima Mazda Building”.

Full of respect for nature, fleeting and environment. Hiroshi Sambuichi guarantees four quarters of observations of the surrounding environment for each project. We often focus on static materials to shape space, but Sanfenyi Bozhi observes "moving materials" from the changes of the four seasons, allowing us to re-focus on the more possibilities for nature to be introduced into the space.

The Noisy Renaissance
Niall Atkinson
简介
Description
Analyzing a range of documentary and literary evidence, art and architectural historian Niall Atkinson creates an “acoustic topography” of Florence. The dissemination of official messages, the rhythm of prayer, and the murmur of rumor and gossip combined to form a soundscape that became a foundation in the creation and maintenance of the urban community just as much as the city’s physical buildings. Sound in this space triggered a wide variety of social behaviors and spatial relations: hierarchical, personal, communal, political, domestic, sexual, spiritual, and religious.

Everyday we will listen to dialogue, music, wind, rain and other close sounds. No one seems to have asked: what does a city sound like, and how does noise shape the urban environment? The Renaissance in Florence is a place and time that has received extensive attention from scholars. Niall Atkinson brought the sound firmly back to the urban sense, restoring the city and its life examples and methods characterized by sound.

Leo Steinberg

Leo Steinberg's classic "Other Criteria" comprises eighteen essays on topics ranging from "Contemporary Art and the Plight of Its Public" and the "flat-bed picture plane" to reflections on Picasso, Rauschenberg, Rodin, de Kooning, Pollock, Guston, and Jasper Johns. The last, which Francine du Plessix Gray called "a tour de force of critical method," is widely regarded as the most eye-opening analysis of Johns' work ever written. This edition includes a new preface and a handful of additional illustrations.

Reason for Recommendation
Leo Steinberg
Leo Steinberg is one of the most outstanding art historians of the 20th century. The book collects a large number of modern art history essays. Even if the influence of art is not so strong, the dialogue style used is very fascinating. The book itself is more like a model of artistic writing and reading. Before delving into other historical and theoretical resources, let's think about the more possibilities of the artwork itself.

A Short History of the Shadow
Victor Stoichita
简介
Description
In this investigative tour de force, Victor I. Stoichita untangles the history of one of the most enduring technical and symbolic challenges to beset Western artists - the depiction and meanings of shadows. The representation of shadow, and especially of cast shadow, is as old as art itself, for according to classical writers art was born when the outline of a human shadow thrown onto a wall was first traced out in order to capture it in the form of a silhouette.

OMA/AMO reports always use a very descriptive observation style. As the title implies, it does not provide any conclusions, but more questions from Rem himself. Also like a report on what happens in the countryside or only outside the boundaries of cities or metropolitan areas: execution centers, permafrost, gorilla protection, pixel agriculture, industrial parks, data centers, national parks, and across multiple continents Many other areas. Gordon Matta-Clark: Physical Poetics
Frances Richard
简介
Description
Bringing a poet's perspective to an artist's archive, this highly original book examines wordplay in the art and thought of American artist Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978). A pivotal figure in the postminimalist generation who was also the son of a prominent Surrealist, Matta-Clark was a leader in the downtown artists' community in New York in the 1970s, and is widely seen as a pioneer of what has come to be known as social practice art. He is celebrated for his "anarchitectural" environments and performances, and the films, photographs, drawings, and sculptural fragments with which his site-specific work was documented. In studies of his career, the artist's provocative and vivid language is referenced constantly. Yet the verbal aspect of his practice has not previously been examined in its own right. Blending close readings of Matta-Clark's visual and verbal creations with reception history and critical biography, this extensively researched study engages with the linguistic and semiotic forms in Matta-Clark's art, forms that activate what he called the "poetics of psycho-locus" and "total (semiotic) system." Examining notes, statements, titles, letters, and interviews in light of what they reveal about his work at large, Frances Richard unearths archival, biographical, and historical information, linking Matta-Clark to Conceptualist peers and Surrealist and Dada forebears. Gordon Matta-Clark: Physical Poetics explores the paradoxical durability of Matta-Clark's language, and its role in an aggressively physical oeuvre whose major works have been destroyed.

The book I just started to contact is divided into four parts-the first part is called "Poetic Architecture". The author conducts textual or inter-textual reading on words, architecture and life, which is a very free-flowing form. The last part of "spatialism" is known for her description of his political life and journey, recalling his ability to travel freely in Europe and South America. He is an artist, and he intervenes in the artistic practice of space with his physical actions to see the multiple possibilities of space.

A Pattern Language
Christopher Alexander / Sara Ishigawa / Murray Silverstein
简介
Description
You can use this book to design a house for yourself with your family; you can use it to work with your neighbors to improve your town and neighborhood; you can use it to design an office, or a workshop, or a public building. And you can use it to guide you in the actual process of construction.
After a ten-year silence, Christopher Alexander and his colleagues at the Center for Environmental Structure are now publishing a major statement in the form of three books which will, in their words, "lay the basis for an entirely new approach to architecture, building and planning, which will we hope replace existing ideas and practices entirely." The three books are The Timeless Way of Building, The Oregon Experiment, and this book, A Pattern Language.

Christopher used the same prose to describe spaces of different scales, from regional planning to town design, from block layout to house design, and from courtyard to interior. Design can be combined in different ways according to specific constraints. Each mode described in the book is fascinating, as if it satisfies all the imagination of the ideal space.
